Ssabakristu - Head of the Laity

He/she is duty-bound to exhort himself/herself to lead a Christian life so that he/she is truly the light of the world (Mt. 5: 14-16). 

i. He/she is the chairman of both the Pastoral Council and the Pastoral Executive Committee at that particular level. 

ii. He/she has to see to it that all Pastoral Councils/Committees of every department are convened periodically. 

iii. He/she is obliged to have a statistical database of that particular level and of the area, e.g. number of Catholics, young Catholics, legally married couples, illegally married couples, members of other denominations etc. 

iv. He/she is responsible for knowing conditions of life of the people he/she serves, their problems, and their goals and aspirations and for collaborating with them in planning their development strategies and solutions to their problems. He/she is, therefore, expected to visit them in their homes. 

v. He/she shall be a member on the Financial Committee at that particular level.
